Elections may be over, but we're just getting started with breaking down the elections across 5 states in India!
This post will focus on Rajasthan.
Rajasthan had 199 seats, 526 lakh registered voters, 22 lakh first-time voters, and a median age of 25.6. The state witnessed a high voter turnout of 75.45 per cent in the assembly polls held on November 25. Interestingly, more women voted than men in the state assembly polls, registering 74.72 per cent, while 74.53 per cent of the men voted in the polls.
However, women make up only 10% of the new Rajasthan assembly. Excluding the BJP, INC and Independents, there are no Female MLAs.
The youngest MLAs are Ravindra Singh Bhati, 25, Anshuman Singh Bhati, 27, and Thavar Chand, 28. They have expressed their enthusiasm to work for the development of their regions and the state. Ravindra Singh Bhati is an independent candidate, Anshumaan Singh Bhati belongs to the BJP, and Thavar Chand from BADVP.
The top issues that dominated the elections were unemployment, paper leaks, farm distress, corruption, and law and order.
How the new government will perform and deliver on its promises remains to be seen. It also remains to be seen how the young MLAs will shape the future of Rajasthan with their vision and leadership.
